He is a recent graduate of Georgia Tech‘s Chemical Engineering school and is one of the founders of The Expressionary.  A company focused on ‘bringing back the meaning of gift giving‘.  Mike will share about his journey as one of the leaders of his startup company. Jessica Ebony ——– Graduating from college is great, but then you have to find a job and do grown-up things like work for a living and in 2010 the economy and job market wasn’t improving. I know and knew several people who had jobs, but unfortunately I wasn’t one of them. So after vacationing with my family in the summer of 2010 I continued job hunting. I worked a few smaller scale jobs and projects during my search including working on a plan to redevelop Haiti, but that’s a story …

Meet Lauren, She’s the Intern Queen!

Photo Source Every morning when I wake up, I immediately turn on The Today Show. I click through Good Morning America and CNN, but The Today Show is usually my first stop to get caught up on what’s going on in the world. Last week, I had the pleasure of tuning in right as The Intern Queen was taking viewers questions and providing great advice. Prior to The Today Show I had no idea who the Intern Queen was, but now I am on board and you should know who she is too. Lauren Berger is a Florida native and during her time at the University of Central Florida she participated in FIFTEEN different internships with premier companies like MTV, FOX, and NBC. As a young entrepreneur, she has worked with tons of clients to create sweet confections that are beautiful to look at, unique to whatever occasion they are celebrating, and yummy to eat! Lauren took some time to answer a few questions about her experience as a business owner in college at Kennesaw State University and what she hopes will be the future of her baking legacy: JE: 3 reasons why you started a business in college: LS: -My dad challenged me to find a way to make a little extra change while keeping my main focus on school. -When you’re in college you’re broke and have nothing. ‘How to Make It in America’ – A TV Show About a Hustle

Photo Source Everyone has one these days! No, not an iPhone, but a side hustle. Just look at the entrepreneurs we have celebrated on The LI$T: Heart Eurika, dangerousNegro Apparel, and the Honor Roll Clothing Group. Everyone is on their grind in some form or fashion. Look at Jessica Ebony and I. We are out here trying to help our peers and colleagues like you through our blog. My favorite show on TV now (by far) is How to Make It in America which airs Sunday nights on HBO and just started its second season. It is about two twenty-something friends who are trying to break into the New York downtown fashion scene and create a name for themselves. The same producers from Entourage are behind this show as well, but instead of the glitz and glamour of Vincent Chase and Ari Gold we are now introduced to the struggling …
