Hello Friends,
Visions of cable knit sweaters, coats made of leather and boots for snowy weather dance upon the TV screen! Black Friday just passed and Holiday Shopping sprees are in full effect. I know what you’re thinking… Being a recent college grad, and in the midst of a recession, where is the money for this going to come from?!
Have no fear, I bring you my top 8 favorite holiday gift ideas under $30.00

When you have no idea: Coffee Table Book. An oversized book of your friend or family member’s favorite topic is always going to win the crowd! Try the bargain bin of a major bookstore retailer. Also try Amazon.com – go for the “USED. Like New” selection.
These are a riot! Designed to be compatible with all cell phones and tablets, for just $30, the old rotary style receiver, comes in colors ranging from traditional black to gold and lime green!
For the Night Owl: Starbucks gift card. They can be purchased in denominations as low as $5.00.
For The Foodie: Move over, drugstore candy and cupcakes, its all about artisan chocolate bars and gourmet macaroons this year.

For the ambitious Foodie: At $7.50/ bar try Vosges’s Red Fire Exotic Candy Bar. They also sell Sugar Free, and gluten free options.
For the eco conscious Foodie: Dagoba and Endangered Species brands (try Lavender and Supreme Dark).
For the High-End Foodie: Mast Brothers. Ranging from $10-12 a pop, these chocolate bars come in beautifully wrapped paper.

For your Office Mate: Try a humorous, day-to-day rip away 2012 calendar. The calendars are under $15.00 and sold at most book stores and Urban Outfitters.
My favorites: The New Yorker, The Onion, Awkward Family Photos
For the Preppie in your life:
-Lilly Pulitzer iPhone and blackberry cover case is $19.95
-Ralph Lauren Rugby Credit Card holder in Madras $ 14.99
For the Animal Lover: A dog leash that dispenses baggies, for you know what…Finally! At $8.95 from the Container Store
For the Wine Lover: Metrokane 6112 Rabbit Wine Aerating Pourer – Coming in at under $30.00 on Amazon.com this wine is great for the wine connoisseur in your life.
*Things to avoid:
-Beauty products: Give them the gift card to Sephora or CVS instead.
-Art. An alternative is to get a book on it. It’s less expensive, and your gift receiver doesn’t feel obligated to hang it up when you come over.
-Religious objects. Unless you know for sure (as in, they asked you for it) that the person would really be comfortable and ok with your selection of a cross, or a Jewish Menorah…stay clear of buying them something so personal.
*Gift Wrapping
-Trying to save costs? Go to the funny sections of your location newspaper and wrap the gift in your favorite cartoon pages!
-Get some brown shipping paper, wrap your gift, and ask your local bakery to spare you some red and white bakers twine next time you pick up a croissant. Your gift will look unique and festive, simultaneously.
Wishing you Happy Holidays and a healthy New Year!
Regards,
JRS
