Walk the Walk with Small Talk

It’s a necessary evil in the workplace. No, I’m not talking about meetings. No, I’m not talking about overtime. No, I’m not even talking about giving presentations. I’m talking about the dreaded small talk. Someone walking by your cube or riding in the elevator with someone are situations where small talk will present itself. Small talk can last anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes and it can be awkward for a lot of people. Viva La Vida: Zurich & London

We’re continuing our journey along with our guest blogger Ivory, a 3rd year, Computational Media major from Georgia Tech, as she takes a 10 day trip throughout Europe. Things are looking good and you can see the offer letter with your name on it already and before you know it, the interviewer drops one of those TOUGH interview questions on you: ‘What is your biggest weakness?‘ All of a sudden your palms get sweaty, a knot forms in your throat, and your seemingly breeze of an interview suddenly hit a rough spot. Questions, like the one above, are generally thrown into the question pile to throw you off. Future employers want to see what you are made of and how you think on your feet. I mean really, what are you going to …

The makers of Idealist.org are a group that have solved this problem for people trying to help their local and global communities. “Idealist connects people, organizations, and resources to help build …
